New translation, update, or review: which mode should you use?
Learn when to start over, extract new text, or manually review an existing translation.
New translation
Use Start project, New translation, or Reset project when the game should be prepared from scratch. Depending on the current state, this can replace the previous translation, so read the confirmation before discarding work you still need.
Update
Choose update mode after the game receives a new version and you want to find added text without discarding everything already translated. LRPGM extracts the current content, compares the project, and preserves recognized translations whenever possible. Keep a copy of the game before updating.
Review
Review mode opens the translation database for manual corrections without requiring a complete automatic translation. Use it to adjust terminology, check dialogue, find text, or polish the final version.
Quick decision
- First run or a project that must restart: New translation.
- Updated game with new text: Update.
- Corrections to an existing translation: Review.
If LRPGM detects an incompatible state or integrity protection, it may require a new preparation. Follow the on-screen message instead of manually changing internal translation files.
